Project Patriot focuses on the housing needs of more than 50,000 veterans that call Marion County home. The main objective of the initiative is No Veteran in Marion County will reside in substandard housing or suffer from quality of life issues related to housing.
Following the Habitat model closely, a variety of housing solutions will be offered to qualifying veterans. These include New Construction, Minor Repair, Major Repair, A Brush with Kindness (exterior paint and landscaping), Mobility Ramps, Bathroom Retrofits, and Weatherization.
How does Project Patriot work?
Supplies and skilled labor are offered to veteran homeowners via no-profit, no interest loans with affordable payments. The payments on these loans are placed into a revolving Fund for Habitat to pay for other Habitat projects. Homeowners are encouraged to seek financial support from other sources for example veterans groups, churches, etc.
